Chapter One: Impossible
"Nessie," Edward proclaims lovingly to me. "You need to finish your breakfast before school starts." He rubbed her head gently, tossling her long, slightly curled bronze hair.
"Oh come on," I protest as I gently touch his forehead. His beautiful caramel colored eyes slightly glazed over as he saw what I wanted, a big juicy bear. "Please Dad?" He shakes his head and frowns in that perfect way that makes complete strangers stare.
"Now Nessie, if you want to go to school like all the other kids, you must eat like one." he scolds.
"Edward, how many times must I tell you not to call her Nessie?" Bella exclaims as she hugs her husband and kisses my cheek. "Good morning sweetie, eat your breakfast." She tells me in her high-pitched voice that sounded like bells. I groan and push the plate full of eggs, ham and toast away from me.
"What if i'm not hungry? What if I don't like human food?" I angrily rant at my parents. They stare at me with a look that is two parts amusement and one part surprise. I stare back into my mother's eyes while studying her face, porcelain pale, clear and firm. This is a fight that I could never win, but I might as well try. My face, or my thoughts, must have been amusing because Edward smirked and let out a small laugh. Beaten, I felt my cheeks pinken and pulled the plate back to my chest.
"Fine!" I say as I stab a piece of egg with my fork and stuff it into my mouth. I chew quickly and swallow, then push my chair out and stomp away to my room. My parents and my cottage is under construction so that my bedroom can have a bigger closet and adjoining bathroom, so we are staying in the Cullen Manor. I pass my Aunts Alice and Rosalie, but they seem to think that it's wise not to say anything. As I throw dresses with designers on them, that Alice finds neccessary to buy for me, I come across what I was looking for: a pair of holey jeans and a black tank-top. I pull on black ankle boots and silver hoops to complete my look. What's that saying? If you can't beat them, join them? The best thing to do to my parents is to upset them by the way that I display myself. Before I can walk out the door, my parents are there and I jump in surprise.
"Renesmee Carlie Cullen, where do you think you are going looking like a-a-" Edward says as he shudders and looks to Bella for help. Bella rolls her eyes at me and my father, then turns away.
"Oh Nessie, you look like a tramp!" Rosalie squeals as she sees me. She gives me the once over and lets out a nauseatingly beautiful laugh. "Then again, it looks good."Edward gives her a deadly look, maybe looks really can kill. She shrugs and begins to walk away when he grabs her and pushes her against the wall. She laughs yet again and he furrows his eyebrows even deeper.
"Oh Edward, I wouldn't say it unless it were true." she tells him and pushes him off of her with one finger. "Besides, I don't have to read minds to know that you are thinking the exact same thing." Rosalie then pushes back her long blonde hair out of her face and raises her eyebrows in a dare-to-object-me manner, then walks away. I walk downstairs with my father following me down to the foyer, where my bookbag lays. I sling it over one shoulder and sit down to wait for Jacob. He always walks me to school even though he has to travel all the way from La Push every morning. I hear Edward sigh and then clear his throat uncomfortably.
"Renesmee, must you go to school looking like this? Don't you..." He said in an uneasy tone. "Er, Bella can you help me out here?" He yelled to Bella, who was in the kitchen listening.
"No thanks dear, I prefer to let you be the mean disciplinary parent." She called back with an obvious smile on her lips. Before my "big mean parent" can open his mouth again, I hear the low rumble in the driveway that is Jacob's Rabbit. I put a colorful Hermes scarf through my jean belt loops and put on a pair of large oversized sunglasses.
"Oh, look who's here. Love you Mom!" I quickly yell. "Bye Daddy, gotta go." I say as I give him a quick peck on the cheek, then I open up the door and before he can reply, I am gone.
